Idea Book: Contemporary Country

New York designer S.R. Gambrel transforms country style into contemporary by pushing traditional style.  This idea book features some of his wonderful spaces of interesting arrangements and architectural details.  The window-ed landing is very interesting as is the window-ed basin sink.  Country style is popular, but doesn't have to feel dated.  I hope you get inspired and see some decorating ideas to try.  Look for his work in an upcoming issue of House and Garden magazine.

Awesome New Furniture Introductions

Want to share some new furniture introductions with you.  These contemporary traditional style sofas and occasional chairs by C. R. Laine have me so excited.  Each piece has a distinct character with beautiful lines, and a fabulous selection of new fabrics.  The colors are youthful and the combinations in each room are spot on.  Would love to see this furniture paired with say a Visual Comfort or Currey & Co. chandelier.  And, I love that yellow high back chair and those huge red toile prints behind it!  Swoon.  Contact us to put together a collection or to order any of the featured items.

Brass Is Back!

Check out these beautiful brass fixtures.   Brass is making a come back, the classic vintage finish gets a contemporary face lift and these awesome gold hued introductions are a big step in the right direction.

The Margeaux’s traditional style is reinforced by an impressive formal presence. This combination stem and chain hung chandelier  features cast transition elements that extend from the circular body to the torchère arms, while the Vintage Brass finish complements this open airy design.

The Zelda’s striking mid-century silhouette features four spheres that increase in size as they descend from the top loop, creating an elegant seamless center column. The sleek rectangular bowed arms support tapered etched glass shades perched on a hemisphere cup, adding vintage appeal.  Contact us to order.

Color Trends: Contemporary Color Palette - New York Apartment

This apartment's color palette reminds me of a bowl of fruit still life painting.  The colors are true, bold in contrast, and unapologetic.  Each room has its own color, style, and attitude.  Sometimes by being consistently different you can create uniformity.

I personally love the avocado green entry and the gray, blue, and green sitting room.  Design Tip:  Wallpapering bookshelves is a simple solution for filling sparse shelves.

Designer Christina Murphy created this fresh and contemporary palette for a New York prewar style apartment.  "Punches of color keep a room feeling youthful and engaging," says Murphy. - House Beautiful

I couldn't agree with you more.
