Watercolor Walls

Traditonal Home gives us a sneak peek at Manhattan's Holiday House Designer Showcase featuring 37 Interior Designers and 27 rooms of interior decorating ideas and inspiration.  This room by designer Eileen Katheryn Boyd caught my eye.  Love, love, love the watercolor walls.  There are different companies that produce watercolor wallpaper, but I believe this wallpaper is by Black Crow Studios.  Lamps, lanterns, and sconces are by Visual Comfort.  Contact us to order.  Also love this contemporary jewel toned palette.  Kudos to Eileen.  As always Traditional Home does a fabulous job of sourcing their photo spreads so for more sneak peek photos and sources visit Traditional Home.

Traditional Home is a sponsor for Manhattan’s designer showhouse benefiting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Located at 2 East 63rd Street, Holiday House is open October 25–November 18. For ticket and event information, visit holidayhousenyc.com

Interiors: Comfort Glamour

London designer Colette van den Thillart gives Traditional Home a tour of her Toronto family home.  With Colette's clients ranging from rock stars to royalty, she has developed a style based on both comfort and glamour.

“I wanted this house to have a sense of flamboyance and grandeur,” says Colette. “But at the end of the day, it’s a casual family home, and it’s meant to be comfortable. The architecture isn’t overly formal, so I didn’t want to overly formalize the decor. It’s the whole suitability thing that Elsie de Wolfe taught us so well.”

“A room should always be a mix of interesting one-of-a-kind finds and simpler pieces,” says Colette. “The finds give you that unexpected charm and grandeur. The more practical bespoke pieces just make everything work.” ~ Traditional Home

Red Cross Designers' Showhouse: West Palm Beach

I could easily live here - beach front property, yellows (my favorite color), blues and whites, house on the ocean, lots of drapes - the Red Cross Designers' Showhouse,  West Palm Beach, Florida, featured by Traditional Home is a knock out.
