Spring has sprung and it is time to turn our focus to the outdoors. My irises bloomed over a week ago and I have a list of outdoor projects that will surely keep me busy all season. One of my projects is to install some additional landscape lighting.
Designer Amy Albert has a few pointers to help you choose the right lighting for your landscaping.
“Consider the architecture of your home when you're choosing landscape light fixtures, so the style is appropriate to the period, scale and design of your home. It's often nice to repeat a motif, material, or color in the house to blend the structure with the outdoor fixtures. In most cases, you want the light to highlight a feature in your garden not draw attention to itself. For that reason, fixtures made with natural materials, nature inspired colors, and organic shapes are particularly well suited. When choosing a fixture, consider too how it will look when exposed during the winter months when there is little plant growth.” ~ Amy Elbert
