In Vogue: The Editor's Eye

The HBO documentary In Vogue: The Editors Eye explores the force behind VOGUE magazine.  Beautifully interesting - check it out.  And, listen for the song at the end of the film during the credits.  You probably won't hear it on the radio (because the editor's don't approve?).  Fabulous.

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel

Oh, how fabulous.  Following in the success of the documentary September Issue comes a new documentary on Diana Vreeland.  Stunning.

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel is an intimate portrait and a vibrant celebration of one of the most influential women of the 20th century, an enduring icon whose influence changed the face of fashion, beauty, art, publishing and culture forever. During her fifty year reign as the "Empress of Fashion," she launched Twiggy, advised Jackie O and coined some of fashion's most eloquent proverbs such as "the bikini is the biggest thing since the atom bomb." She was the fashion editor of HARPER'S BAZAAR where she worked for 25 years before becoming editor in chief of VOGUE followed by a remarkable stint at the Met's Costume Institute where she helped popularize its historical collections. Look for Diana Vreeland:  The Eye Has to Travel this fall.  It will be out in theaters in NY and LA on September 21st, 2012.

Art: Mysterious Bansky

The very well known underground Graffiti artist who goes by the pseudonym "Bansky" is a virtual mystery to the public.  His known paintings are fueled with tongue in cheek social commentary - he places his graffiti paintings in internationally busy areas for maximum exposure.  Bansky has also been known to secretly place his framed paintings beside other famous works of art in major galleries.  Now famous and filling galleries with his own exhibits, Bansky's true identity remains a secret.  This clever artist is worth checking out.

Check out the Bansky documentary "Exit Through The Gift Shop" which began as a documentary about Bansky and ended up as a documentary by Bansky. 

Documentary: Grey Gardens

Both a successful film and musical adaption have been based on the story of Grey Gardens.  Though, if you haven't seen the original - it is one of the best captured studies of a relationship on film.  Add it to your movie list.

The original documentary film depicts the everyday lives of the two reclusive socialites, mother and daughter both named Edith Beale, who lived at Grey Gardens.
