How High Do I Hang My Chandelier?

One of our most asked questions is, "How high do I hang my chandelier?"  People always ask "I have a 10 ft. ceiling," or "I have an 8 ft. ceiling," or "I have a 20 ft ceiling, how high do I hang my chandelier?"

The answer is, "Nobody knows.  No, just kidding."
Actually, the rule of thumb when judging how high to hang your chandelier is ~ the bottom of the chandelier should be above your eye level.  It's as simple as that.  Now, you can raise the chandelier as high as you are comfortable with, but the bottom shouldn't be below 60 inches off the floor.  This is mainly the rule because it would interfere with the line of sight at the dining table and would also limit your choice of centerpieces.  So, now you can get a restful night's sleep knowing ~ question answered.  Doesn't that feel good.
