Anticipation builds for the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Olympic torch entered London with Royal Marine Martyn Williams as he rappelled down from a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter into the Tower of London on the shore of the River Thames. The torch also took a spin on the landmark Ferris wheel, the London Eye, carried by Amelia Hempleman-Adams, who at the age 16 became the youngest person to ski to the South Pole. The Olympics begin officially today with Women's Soccer.
Watch the opening ceremonies Friday. (SPOILER ALERT) Tickets were sold to watch rehearsals for the opening ceremonies and spectators have posted to social media ceremony sneak peaks including a Mary Poppins segment, a Harry Potter segment, a history segment including the Industrial Revolution, and clouds that will produce rain.
