Don't Be Afraid: To Decorate With Pattern

Decorating with pattern is not something to be afraid of - you have permission to can decorate with pattern.  So, go on.  Decorating giant Dorothy Draper made her name by pushing contrasting patterns together - and look at her.  Pattern creates movement, movement creates energy, and energy creates excitement.  That means "Wow" factor.

Decorating Tip:  When using patterns choose a primary pattern (start with a larger one).  This will be the dominant pattern and a focal point for the room.  Then choose secondary patterns (varying smaller ones).  Trust your gut, if your first reaction is to like a pattern - go from there.  If not, move on.
