Interiors: Old World Charm

This quaint apartment in Calcutta, India is a shining example of creating a home that celebrates old world charm of family traditions passed on through several generations. The traditional walls are made from surki, a mixture of sand and lime, which is common to Indian flats from the early 20th century.  The living room floor is made of Burmese teak and the other rooms have floors of Italian marble tile. The home is fashioned with Bengal furniture, made from rosewood and mahogany, that dates from the late colonial period.
